Look, cards on the table: This isn’t any big news about the third installment in the Ant-Man series from Marvel Studios. Director Peyton Reed offered a few remarks on the film, but nothing substantial. This post is more a celebration of the fact that the movie is still going to exist.

I mean, yes, we got confirmation in November of last year that it’s going to be a movie and all, but that’s been about it. And that’s not surprising: with the COVID-19 virus shutting down so many productions and Marvel Studios reshuffling release dates of everything from Black Widow to Eternals, there’s probably not been much in the way of Ant-Man 3 news to share.

But hey, I promised a few remarks. Reed, talking with Jess Cagle yesterday on SiriusXM, had this to say re: Ant-Man 3: It’s “going to be much bigger, more sprawling than” the previous installments, adding “it’s going to have a very different visual template.”

That’s all heartening, as it shows that Reed is still experimenting with visuals in the same way he did with the first two. That second film especially had some trippy effects when the film journeyed to the Quantum Realm.

The Quantum Realm

So, woot! We still have an Ant-Man 3 movie coming to a theater near us… sometime, hopefully when it’s safe to venture to theaters again.
