Homer’s epic The Iliad rightly holds a lofty status in history, in poetry, and in literature as a piece of artistry and a crowning achievement of human creativity. Recounting the bravery, boldness, and brutality of the Trojan War, it’s a tale that lovers of Western literature and students of the humanities have pored over time and again.

This March, Candlewick Press is bringing the story to graphic novel form, courtesy of writer and artist Gareth Hinds. In anticipation of the book, Candlewick Press has been kind enough to share an exclusive video detailing Hinds’ process in bringing Homer’s lyrics to comic book life. Further, we have some preview pages from Hinds’ The Iliad both to dazzle the eyes and to whet your appetites for the book until it hits shelves on March 12, 2019.
