Where Venditti always seems to shine is to inject pathos and real-world weight to tales featuring intergalactic space cops. As much of a badass we know Guy Garnder to be, Venditti makes us connect with him in a way that goes beyond just marveling at his swagger. And Tarrogona and Sandoval run with Venditti’s words and compose pages that help those emotional moorings connect.

Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #16, written by Robert Venditti with Jordi Tarrogona and Rafa Sandoval on art, is on sale this Wednesday from DC Comics.

From the official issue description:

“QUEST FOR THE BLUE LANTERNS” part three! Guy Gardner sets out on a one-man mission to take out the one Sinestro Corps ring slinger everyone’s afraid of: Arkillo! Can this Green Lantern with a grudge take down this monstrous alien and prove he’s still the toughest guy in the cosmos to carry a power battery? As Guy’s hope for a fair fight wanes, Hal Jordan and Kyle Rayner streak across the galaxy in a last-ditch effort to find Saint Walker of the Blue Lanterns and ensure that the blue light of hope isn’t extinguished.
