A lot of y’all probably saw the trailer for this summer’s Suicide Squad film that hit the interwebs in January. For the uninitiated or maybe folks who just knew of only Harley Quinn and the Joker, the clips with Will Smith doing his thing might’ve been cool, but it could be that you were a bit lost, for all the kickassery of the trailer. Lucky for you, gentle readers, you’ve got a good five months to acquaint yourself with Deadshot, Harley, and the gang thanks to DC Comics’ New Suicide Squad ongoing series. Check out these preview pages of New Suicide Squad #18–written by Tim Seeley with Juan Ferreyra on pencils–out this Wednesday!

Seeley is one of the best writers in comics in terms of characterization and getting at the heart of a character. Even when having Harley recounting a past tale, her crazy-pants yet playful personality is on full display, giving readers a glimpse of who she is while still propelling the plot forward. As for Ferreyra, the humanity he manages to inject in the cast’s faces is astounding. If you’re not at least a little moved by the gentle face of the lunch lady seen in this preview, you might be a hair dead on the inside.

New Suicide Squad #18, written by Tim Seeley  with Juan Ferreyra on pencils, will arrive in comic book shops this Wednesday from DC Comics.

From the official issue description:

Officially “killed in action,” the Suicide Squad considers what to do with their newfound freedom—but not for long, as their mysterious liberator reveals his own dark reasons for aiding them in their escape—reasons that drag the members of Task Force X deep into the heart of evil in the DC Universe.

While you’re at it, be sure to give the Suicide Squad trailer another gander because, really, do you need a reason not to?
