31 years after its debut on HBO, Jim Henson’s Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas is heading to theaters.
Joined by fellow holiday classic The Bells of Fraggle Rock, Emmet Otter will hit the silver screen for the very first time in The Jim Henson Holiday Special for two days only across the nation. Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas tells the tale of Emmet Otter and his mother in a sort of O. Henry gift-giving yarn, in which each gives up something valuable to attempt to win a competition to afford a Christmas present for the other.
“Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas was a favorite project for my dad since it included such sweet characters, Paul Williams’s delightful music, and a timeless holiday message,” said Cheryl Henson, Jim Henson’s daughter and president of the Jim Henson Foundation.
The Jim Henson Holiday Special will appear in over 600 theaters on Monday, December 10th and Sunday, December 16th.
