Just a couple days ago, Disney and LucasFilm treated us with pretty eye-candy in the form of new character posters for next month’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. With a fairly hefty trailer released two weeks ago during Monday Night Football, I suspected that the biggest hat tip or tease for the film until its December 18th premiere would come in smaller morsels, such as the aforementioned posters, stills from the movie, or maybe a surprise Star Wars/Valvoline cross-promotional partnership.

However, Disney gave Star Wars fans a big kickoff to the weekend this morning, releasing a new trailer for The Force Awakens on its Walt Disney Studios Japan YouTube page. This reveal is unexpected, as director J.J. Abrams had previously stated that the last trailer would be the final glimpse of the movie before its big debut. Not that we’re complaining! Take a gander at this new footage that the universe has gifted us, with closer looks at Finn, Rey, Kylo Ren, and, most importantly, a talking BB-8 droid!

“Hope is not lost today. It is found.” You’re darn-tootin’, disembodied voice narrator!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters December 18th.
