While we knew that next year’s Captain Marvel film from Marvel Studios would see the return of Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury opposite Brie Larson’s titular hero, the House of Ideas revealed today that the studio would make use of its 1990s setting and bringing other characters back to the fold.

Joining Jackson’s former director of SHIELD is Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser and Djimon Hounsou as Korvath the Pursuer, both of whom figured heavily in the first Guardians of the Galaxy film, where both met their demise at the hands of the Guardians. Ronan’s inclusion makes sense, as the character is a Kree, an alien race tied to Captain Marvel’s superhero origins. Korvath worked for Ronan in the first Guardians movie as the Accuser sought the Infinity Stone of Power, which will play a role in next month’s Avengers: Infinity War.

Further, another big return is Clark Gregg, who will reprise his role as Agent Phil Coulson in a Marvel Cinematic Universe film for the first time since his seeming demise in the first Avengers installment. He, of course, got better and went on to star in ABC’s Agents of SHIELD.

Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson, will hit theaters on March 8th, 2019.
