We are less than three weeks away from the premiere of Avengers: Infinity War, with the film’s principles kicking off their press tour this past weekend. However, while they have plenty on their plate, the Russo brothers, directors of the movie, took time out of their busy schedule to post some fancy (and possibly telling) Infinity War artwork on their Twitter and Instagram pages this morning.

Cap’s poster is a head nod both to his abandonment of the shield and Captain America persona at the end of Captain America: Civil War; the Russos have previously stated that Steve would be adopting the Nomad persona, a callback to a similar storyline in the comics.

However, it’s the Winter Soldier poster that has us most intrigued. For one, Bucky’s holding the shield, which, as stated above, was left with Tony Stark at the conclusion of Civil War. Also, the fact that Mr. Barnes his wielding the shield adds fire to fan speculation that he’ll assume the Captain America mantle if Steve dies in Infinity War or Avengers 4, as actor Chris Evans, who portrays Steve Rogers, is no longer contractually obligated to resume the role.

In a classic Marvel story by writer Ed Brubaker, Bucky Barnes assumed the Captain America guise after Steve was presumed dead. Will the films follow suit? There’s zero chance that the Russos would tip their hand to such a big plot reveal, so it’s most likely a wink and a nod to fans and/or they’re screwing with us.

Perhaps we’ll get some answers when Avengers: Infinity War debuts on April 27th.
