The movie podcast market has become extraordinarily crowded over the past few years, with a variety of excellent programs filled with film commentary out there… if you know where to look. Luckily, we have one such show that we wholeheartedly endorse: the We Hate Movies podcast, part of the Headgum family of podcasts. Now into its twelfth season, We Hate Movies is hosted by four hosts–Andrew Jupin, Chris Cabin, Stephen Sajadak, and Eric Szyszka–who bring their varied experiences in the entertainment industry and scholarship to produce thoughtful opinions and hilarious spins every week on “bad” movies of the past. Bad is in quotations because, as they often say, “it’s okay to like a movie,” and much of their derision is all in good fun.

However, in recent years, they’ve turned their attention to movies they enjoy, launching a “We Love Movies” for the month of December in 2018 and going four years strong since. This is a trend that has also migrated to their Patreon page, as they review a movie a month that they love. Also on their Patreon, depending on the tier, a patron can listen to the quartet review episodes of Star Trek and Star Trek: The Next Generation, pick apart a piece of animation from the past, explore a tertiary Star Wars character on their “Gleepglossary” side show, or listen to them discuss the higher and lower virtues of Melrose Place and Beverly Hills 90210.

The WHM crew even occasionally goes on tour to different cities to play to audiences who appreciate the show, and now they’re back on tour in full force, doing live shows and adding additional cities they’ll be playing to in coming months. Here’s where they’ll be popping up:

  • Boston: The Escape Plan on 4/24
  • Washington DC: Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot on 4/26
  • Philadelphia: Rocky V on 4/27
