We’ve been enormous, Cheshire Cat-sized fans of BOOM! Studios’ Alice Forever After since it debuted a few months back. Creator Dan Panosian’s work on The Last Boy for BOOM! was a breath of fresh air, bringing something new and novel to the story of Peter Pan that we know so well. It’s that work that had us so excited for his series Alice Forever After and, four issues in, that excitement has proven time and again to have been well-warranted.
Written by Panosian with art by Giorgio Spalletta and Panosian, colored by Francesco Segala, and lettered by Jeff Heckleberry, Alice Forever After follows an Alice who has matured into adulthood and parenthood, having left Wonderland behind her… or so she thinks. While she may be done with Wonderland, the skewed magical realm isn’t quite done with her. Some of the beings that she met there as a child have designs on leaving their realm for our world, and they have more in their sights than just Alice. The series has taken twists and turns that have deepened the Alice in Wonderland mythos in ways it hasn’t before.
That’s why we’re so excited–and, admittedly, a little sad–that the conclusion of this iteration of Alice’s tale is coming to a close in next month’s Alice Forever After #5.
