For the fourth year in a row, retailers across the nation are celebrating Local Comic Shop Day, a day that throws the spotlight on independently-owned comic book stores. Much like Small Business Saturday, Local Comic Shop Day is meant to give these comic shops attention to draw in customers and let nearby residents know where they can buy comic books.

You can click here to find out where comic shops are in your area.

Comic book shops are, for all intents and purposes, the last places new readers can find physical comic books, as fewer bookstores, pharmacies, and other retailers are carrying comic books. Comic shop owners are one of the last beacons for potential comic fans to be brought into the hobby and love of the medium.

If you have the chance, please check out a comic shop in your area this Saturday, both to support the store and to introduce yourself or someone else to a love of reading comics.
