This year’s New York Comic-Con was brimming with huge pop culture news, but few people had as many announcements as Leeanne “Mongie” Krecic. Krecic is the creator of the enormously popular webcomic Let’s Play, which features themes romance and personal growth in the thick of a world of gamer culture. In addition to her success with the series on the Internet, Krecic has launched four Kickstarter campaigns with Rocketship Entertainment to bring the comic to print. Each campaign hit its funding goals many times over; the fourth Kickstarter recently launched and has weeks to go.

But the Kickstarter isn’t the only Let’s Play news. On a panel at NYCC, Krecic revealed that the successful webcomic is making the leap to animation, with a new anime series being produced by OLM. You might know OLM their other popular animated series, including Pokémon, Komi Can’t Communicate, and Odd Taxi.

And even more Let’s Play news came from the NYCC panel, with Krecic announcing that the comic will return in the fall of 2025. Where it will return, however, is not known as of press time. Webtoon had been the home of Let’s Play until the end of last year, which Krecic announced on social media, citing issues with the webcomic platform.

While you wait for the return of the Let’s Play comic and eagerly anticipate the release of the anime cartoon, you can still pre-order the fourth volume of the print edition on Kickstarter.
