J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII: Title TBD hits theaters during the Christmas season next year and, with more and more teases for the film being released on the Internet, fans of the original trilogy are hoping that the light side of the Force guides Abrams’ hand as he crafts the next chapter of the adventures of Luke, Han, and company. In other words, we’re all hoping Abrams doesn’t shit the bed, so to speak, and produce another Phantom Menace. With interest in the Star Wars films ramping up as we edge ever closer to the end of 2015, Hot Toys and Sideshow Collectibles has acquired the right to produce Star Wars figures just in time for the new film! Sideshow will be releasing a whole host of characters from the Rebellion and the Empire, including everyone’s favorite rag-tag duo this side of Rocket Raccoon and Groot, Han Solo and Chewbacca.

Made in 1/6th scale, The Hot Toys Han and Chewie are available for pre-order as a set or can be purchased separately. Like most of Sideshow’s products, the smugglers are beautifully detailed, from Han’s blaster and Chewbacca’s bowcaster to the wrinkled shirt Han is wearing. You almost expect Han’s vest to reek of sweat and Jabba-funk. The Millennium Falcon’s pilot can even move his hands and wrists so he can quick-draw his blaster and shoot first before Greedo gets the upper hand. Han and Chewie also come with headsets, perfect for Han to tell Luke to get his head out of his ass and blow up the Death Star.

Luckily, we didn’t have to threaten anyone with being frozen in carbonite to get the details about these Chewie and Han figures from Sideshow’s website.

Han Solo and Chewbacca

The movie-accurate Han Solo collectible figure is specially crafted based on the image of Harrison Ford as Han Solo in the film and features a newly developed body, highly detailed costume, weapons, accessories, and a specially designed figure stand. The movie-accurate Chewbacca collectible figure is specially crafted based on the image of Chewbacca in the film and features a newly developed body, brown fabric hair throughout the whole body that captures Chewbacca’s unique appearance, highly detailed bowcaster and accessory, and a specially designed figure stand.

While the figures are gorgeous—I could get lost in Chewbacca’s eyes—they’re not without their hiccups. Han’s face doesn’t quite look like that of Harrison Ford, instead looking hollow, perhaps contemplating why he ever agreed to appear in the film Six Days, Seven Nights with Anne Heche. To be fair, however, as Lemon points out, no toy manufacturer has ever really captured Ford’s visage perfectly. And while Han’s Wookie friend, overall, is serviceable, his fur has the appearance of dirty, matted junkyard dog. Still, these are minor quibbles, as, truly, these offerings from Sideshow just might be the best Han and Chewie representations I’ve ever seen.

While the pair aren’t available yet—again, you’ll have to pre-order them and have Jedi-like patience—take heart that you’ll soon have the opportunity to fill that Death Star-sized hole in your life with your own Han and Chewie. In the meantime, stay tuned to Sideshow Collectible’s website for other Star Wars figures, as Hot Toys is utilizing its rights to produce the films’ characters to its fullest advantage.
