Kentucky Kaiju: Extended Edition

Kentucky Kaiju: Extended Edition and the original edition

Kentucky residents and comic creators Justin Stewart, Tressina Bowling, and Shawn Pryor originally produced Kentucky Kaiju in 2016 as a 4.5″ x 6″ digest-sized book published by Apex Book Company. The “fake field guide” features kaiju found in towns across Kentucky and the book is clearly a fun love letter to the Bluegrass State. The Kentucky Kaiju: Extended Edition Kickstarter is packed with new content and with an increased size of 8.5″ x 11″. I’ve read the original printing of Kentucky Kaiju and it’s an engrossing romp that’s well worth your time. As of press time, the Kickstarter is just over halfway funded with 12 days to go, so check it out if you want to help make the new printing a reality!

Vampirella: Black, White & Blood

Art by Jae Lee

From Dynamite Originals, Vampirella: Black, White & Blood leans into the action and carnage, with stories featuring art from Mirka Andolfo and written by Steve Orlando and Tim Seeley. This is a banner year for Vampirella, with the character celebrating her 55th anniversary since first appearing in 1969, so Dynamite clearly wanted to make this a special tribute. Andolfo, Orlando, and Seeley are some of the best in the business and the preview pages on Kickstarter are mesmerizing, so this is one that’s definitely worth checking out. As of press time, the campaign has surpassed its initial goal by $12,000 with 16 days left to go to pre-order the book and get in on the backer rewards.

Faded Away Vol. 2

Art by qiseki

From the boundless talents of qiseki, Fade Away Vol. 2 continues the story of Sou, Mitsuko, and their friends, navigating high school and investigating the mystery of Mitsuko. The story of the entire comic is engrossing and the art will pull you in and capture your eyes for hours. qiseki is partnering with Rocketship Entertainment again to bring this second volume to print via Kickstarter. As of press time, the campaign has 17 days to go and has more than double its initial funding goal. qiseki is an enormous talent and while the mystery of Mitsuko might still be hanging in the air, there’s no mystery as to why Faded Away is so popular.
