In “never considered it, but makes sense” movie news, according to Variety, actor and director Jon Favreau will once again portray Happy Hogan, Tony “Iron Man” Stark’s right-hand man and best friend, in next year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. With Robert Downey, Jr. reprising his role as the armored Avenger in Spider-Man, it seems natural, yet unexpected, that Favreau would step back into Happy’s shoes.
His performances in Swingers and on Friends aside (which, to be fair, had more to do with the script than the acting), Favreau is always a welcome addition to any cast, bringing a level of grounding to any chaos that might be swirling about. And it’s not as though he’s uncomfortable in front of the camera or behind it; he played Happy in all three Iron Man films and directed the first two outings.
Spider-Man: Homecoming, starring Tom Holland, Robert Downey, Jr., and Jon Favreau, hits theaters July 7, 2017.
