With The Dark Tower–which adapts writer Stephen King’s sweeping novel series for the big screen–dropping in just three months, the filmmakers have decided to make this the week of All Things Roland, with a trailer dropping tomorrow to dazzle our eyeholes. To hold us over until then, however, today we were also gifted with some gorgeous character posters of actors Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey as The Gunslinger and his eternal quarry.
There’s an elegance in both of these posters with the minimalist approach they take with both Elba’s Roland Deschain and McConaughey’s Man in Black. The use of blues in Roland’s image and the red with MIB highlight the dichotomy between the two men and how they view the world and existence itself. And the blues that drape The Gunslinger’s peacemakers to give a nod to his preternatural ability to wield them is a nice touch.
The Dark Tower hits theaters August 4th.
