Star Wars: The Force Awakens, in addition to being one of the most anticipated, well-received Star Wars films in years, was also a cornucopia of beauty to behold. What is just as phenomenal, however, are the processes which the folks at Industrial Light & Magic undertook to bring viewers every magnificent frame of visual effects from the script to the screen.

While we all acknowledge that the Star Wars saga is a marvel for the senses, IL&M released a video this week that shows the breakdown and construction of some of the key scenes and locales, such as Jakku and the Starkiller base, highlighted in The Force Awakens. The results are, all hyperbole aside, awe-inspiring, and well worth the four-minutes out of your day.
