At the end of 2014’s Maleficent—the live-action tale starring Angelina Jolie as the villainess of Sleep Beauty—it seemed that Princess Aurora (Elle Fanning) and the titular misunderstood protagonist had reconciled to repair their fractious relationship. However, in the newly-released trailer for October’s sequel—Maleficent: Mistress of Evil—that relationship may once again be at risk. Check out the footage below!

We see Michelle Pfeiffer taking a star turn as Queen Ingrith, the mother of Aurora’s suitor Prince Philip, with Ingrith and Maleficent butting heads and horns. What schism caused this adversarial tension? As always, it’ll be a wait-and-see proposition. Whatever the situation, the visuals, as in the first film, look dynamite, so sign us up.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil—starring Jolie, Fanning, Pfeiffer, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Warwick Davis, Ed Skrein, juno Temple, Imelda Staunton, Lesley Manville and Harris Dickinson—hits theaters on October 18.

From the official film synopsis:

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is a fantasy adventure that picks up several years after Maleficent, in which audiences learned of the events that hardened the heart of Disney’s most notorious villain and drove her to curse a baby Princess Aurora. The film continues to explore the complex relationship between the horned fairy and the soon to be Queen as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within.
