If you’re a superhero fan and watching this Sunday’s Super Bowl 50 (or checking the Internet for updates), then it’s been a pretty rockin’ day. Earlier in the game, Marvel Studios dropped a short trailer for Captain America: Civil War, featuring Captain America and Iron Man having the grumpies with one another when really they should be super-happy-friends. (That’s the plot synopsis. Probably.)
Not to be outdone, Fox gave viewers a new glimpse at this May’s newest movie filled mutant mayhem, X-Men: Apocalypse. Check out the shiny trailer below!
While, as with the Cap trailer, we didn’t get a lot of new footage this go-around, it was nice to see mutants Cyclops and Psylocke featured more prominently. And, really, the special effects team did a fan-damn-tastic job with the visualization of their powers, something that could have gone horribly awry, particularly in Psylocke’s case. Even the look of Apocalypse, the film’s Big Bad, is greatly improved from those initial early stills released to the public. Also, as this film takes place in the 1980s and I’m an 80s baby, I was happy to see all of the awesome and poor decisions in fashion that decade prominently on display.
X-Men: Apocalypse, directed by Bryan Singer and starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Olivia Munn, and Jennifer Lawrence, hits theaters on May 27.
