This year’s John Wick: Chapter 2 was one of those rare action sequels following up on a beloved revenge tale that didn’t disappoint. (Looking at you, Taken 2.) If the box office numbers are any indication, fans seem to agree, which is why it was hardly surprising when John Wick 3 was announced earlier this year to be a thing that’s happening sometime at a later date.

Well, the ambiguity of when it’s hitting has been put to rest and it’s a mixed bag. Lionsgate is dropping John Wick: Chapter 3 on May 17th… of 2019. On the one hand, damn, that’s a long time to wait. On the other hand, maybe we should just be happy that John Wick exists at all and that a third installment is on the horizon. We’ll be happy with what we have. Accentuate the positive, right?

Actor Keanu Reeves returns to shoot-’em-up as John Wick on May 17th, 2019 from Lionsgate.
