It’s been nearly 10 years since Christopher Guest has released a comedy and the world has been poorer for it. The This Is Spinal TapWaiting for Guffman and Best in Show director must have sensed an imbalance in the equilibrium of funny in the world and has returned to deliver us from the saddies with his new mockumentary Mascots. As the name suggests, the Netflix original follows sports mascots as they jockey as the spot of top dog (or cat or eagle or whatever) in their field. Watch the trailer below, complete with Ed Begley, Jr. discussing his “anatomically correct” donkey costume.

As you can see from the footage, most of Guest’s comedy troupe of actors are on deck, including Fred Willard, Begley, Jr., Jennifer Coolidge, and Parker Posey, with newcomers like Zack Woods wading into the Guestian waters.

Mascots drops on Netflix on October 13th, but will first appear at the Toronto International Film Festival later this month.

From the official film synopsis:

Sports mascots reveal the peculiarities of their ultra-competitive world as they pursue the highest honor in their field: the Gold Fluffy.
