You might have noticed that the Marvel hero Dane Whitman, The Black Knight, is having a moment in the spotlight, made particularly evident with his role in the recent King in Black miniseries. Now, the former Avenger is getting more attention in his new series Black Knight: Curse of the Ebony Blade, hopefully introducing a new generation of readers to this superhero mainstay. And if the cover to May’s issue #3 is any indication, Dane will have to test the mettle of his ebony blade against one of the most famous weapons in the Marvel Universe: Thor’s hammer Mjolnir!

The words inscribed on the ebony blade–a warped twist of those that are evident on Mjolnir–is a very nice touch to give a nod of the blade’s dark history.

Black Knight: Curse of the Ebony Blade is on sale in May.
