Actor David Harbour was one of the standouts in a cast of standouts as Police Chief Jim Hopper in the first season of Netflix’s science fiction/horror series Stranger Things. When Lionsgate, which is spearheading the Hellboy cinematic reboot, announced that Harbour would headline the film as the demon on the side of light, it was met with largely positive feedback. This week, Lionsgate just released a first look at Harbour as Big Red, and if anyone had any doubt that the actor could pull off the role, that trepidation has been soundly beaten into submission.

David Harbour as Hellboy

The silhouette that Harbour-as-Hellboy cuts is a bit different than the version Ron Perlman portrayed in the first two Hellboy films: the character looks slightly leaner and more cut, as well as bearing a Fist of Doom that appears more metallic than stony. Regardless, the badassery is popping off the image in a larger-than-life way. With the film’s R-rating, expect Harbour to do a helluva lot of smashing on the silver screen.
