On Wednesday, March 22, Valiant Comics’ Bloodshot Reborn #0, written by Jeff Lemire with Renato Guedes on art, hits newsstands, featuring the tying up of many loose threads that Lemire has set up in the life of Bloodshot and the overarching Bloodshot mythology. Issue 0 will also set up what the writer has prepared for his upcoming series, Bloodshot Salvation.
It’s been a big week for Bloodshot and Valiant, with a director named for the Bloodshot film finally named to get things moving. Lemire has been doing amazing things with Bloodshot, a versatile character that has been mined well over the years. It’s a testament to both Lemire and Bloodshot that ever more layers and storytelling pathways can be explored after 25 years of the hero’s publication history. And Guedes’ art in this issue blends the right amount of pathos and rich characterization that makes even a suburban setting pop off the page.
